JEWISH CHALLAH BREAD | |
8 c. flour (high gluten) 2/3 - 3/4 c. sugar 2 c. hot water 2 packets rapid rise dry yeast 1/2 c. oil 2 eggs 1 tbsp. salt Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine flour with dry yeast, sugar and salt. Make a well and add the water (as hot as the tap water will get), then add remaining ingredients. Mix and knead until dough is very smooth. Cover and let stand for 10 minutes. Roll out and braid into loaves. Let rise (covered with plastic) until double in size. Bake in 350 degree oven for 30-40 minutes. |
