GRANNY'S COVERED WAGON BISCUITS 
2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. sugar
4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. buttermilk
1/4 c. shortening

Stir flour, sugar and salt together. Cut in shortening using a pastry blender. Stir in buttermilk. Turn dough out onto a floured surface. Knead gently a few times. Cut in circles. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.

My Great Grandmother made these on the covered wagon on the Oregon Trail moving west.
