GRANNY'S APPLE COBBLER 
Crust (Top Only):

1 heaping tbsp. shortening
1 tsp. salt
1 c. flour
1/3 c. water (add a little more if needed)

Butter bottom and sides of a glass dish.

Filling:

Granny Smith apples
cinnamon
1/2 c. sugar
1 to 2 tbsp. flour
1/2 to 2/3 c. water

Thinly slice enough apples and fill dish about 3/4 full. Sprinkle apples with cinnamon. Sprinkle 1/2 cup sugar; if apples are extremely tart, add 1/2 cup more sugar. Sprinkle approximately 1 to 2 tablespoons flour over mixture. Cut a few pieces of butter and distribute sparingly on apples. Add 1/2 to 2/3 cup water. Roll out crust dough thin and place over apple mixture.
