FRENCH MARKET DOUGHNUTS 
1/2 c. warm water
1 pkg. dry yeast
1/2 c. evaporated milk
1 egg, beaten
2 tbsp. oil
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
3 c. flour
Oil for deep frying
Powdered sugar for dusting when cooked

Dissolve yeast in warm water in large bowl. Add milk, egg, oil, vanilla, sugar, and salt. Combine. Beat in flour thoroughly. The dough will be very soft and sticky. On a floured surface roll out 1/4 of the dough, to about 1/8 inch thickness. (Meanwhile heat oil to 370 degrees.) Cut the doughnuts into 2 inch squares drop a few into the oil. They puff up and float to top. Brown one side then turn. Drain on paper towel, dust.
