GOLDEN CHOWDER SOUP 
2 c. chopped potatoes
1/2 c. sliced celery
1/2 c. sliced carrots
1/4 c. chopped onion
1 tbsp. chives
1 tsp. salt
Dash of pepper
2 c. water

WHITE SAUCE:

1/4 c. butter
1/4 c. flour
2 c. milk
2 c. Cheddar cheese, grated

Combine vegetables, seasonings and water. Cover. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes.

Make a white sauce with butter, flour and milk. Add cheese and stir until melted. Add undrained vegetables. Heat but don't boil. Top with additional chives.
