1 c. butter
2 c. confectioners sugar
1 egg yolk
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2 c. unbleached almonds, finely ground
1/8 tsp. salt
Candied cherries, cut in half

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg yolk and other ingredients, except cherries. Knead well with hands. Shape in small balls with your hands dusted with confectioners sugar. Put on baking sheet 3 inches apart. Press half a candied cherry in center of each cookie. Bake at 350 degrees about 15 minutes, until golden brown. Makes about 40 cookies.
