JEWISH MONDEL BREAD | |
3 1/2 c. flour 1 c. sugar 1 heaping tsp. baking powder 2 eggs 2/3 c. vegetable oil 1/3 c. orange juice or 2 tsp. almond flavor extract 1 c. chopped walnuts Preheat oven to 350 degrees for 30 minutes. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar and baking powder. In a small bowl, add eggs, oil and orange juice (or almond extract) and nuts. Make a well in the dry ingredients, pour in wet ingredients. Mix well with hands. Divide dough into two parts. On a cookie sheet, shape each piece of dough into the size and length of a strudel. Bake in oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes until golden brown. Remove from oven and cool. Cut into 3/4" slices and spread slices onto a cookie sheet and turn the oven to 400 degrees. Return to oven to brown and toast for 5 minutes. Enjoy. |
