CHERRY NUT CAKE 
1 pt. sour cream
1 tsp. baking soda
2 sticks butter
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. almond extract
1 c. chopped walnuts
1 c. quartered maraschino cherries
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt

CREAM CHEESE FROSTING:

3 oz. pkg. cream cheese
1/4 c. butter
2 c. confectioners' sugar
1 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Add baking soda to sour cream and set aside. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add sour cream and soda mixture. Mix. Add flour and salt. Mix well. Fold in cherries and nuts. Bake in a greased tube pan in a 350 degree oven for 60 to 70 minutes. Cool and frost with Cream Cheese Frosting.

FROSTING: Cream together cream cheese and butter until smooth. Beat in confectioners' sugar, milk and vanilla. Beat well.
