GINGERBREAD MEN | |
4 c. flour, sifted 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking soda 2 tsp. baking powder 2 tsp. ginger 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. nutmeg 1 c. shortening 1 c. sugar 1 c. molasses 2 egg yolks Canned cake frosting Sift together flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder and spices. Cream shortening with sugar; blend in molasses and egg yolks. Mix in flour mixture. Cover; chill for several hours or overnight. Roll out small portions at a time to 1/4 inch thickness between two sheets of wax paper. Cut with gingerbread man cookie cutter. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from oven after a minute or two. Run a knife under cookies. Cool and decorate with cake frosting. |
