SIMPLE POUND CAKE 
3 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. butter
5 eggs
3 c. plain flour
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring

Cream sugar, shortening and butter. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each one. Add flour, milk and vanilla. Mix until blended. Pour into a greased and floured 10 inch tube pan.

Bake at 325°F for 1 hour, then at 350°F for 30 minutes more or until it test done. Cool 10 to 15 minutes in pan.
