SCOTCH BARS 
1 1/4 sticks melted butter
1 c. white sugar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/4 c. molasses
1 egg
1 tsp. baking soda in 1 tbsp. warm water
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
3 c. flour

Combine all ingredients, nuts or raisins may be added. Mash into place with fingertips on a large cookie sheet. Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 350 degrees (do not over bake). While still warm, ice with powdered sugar icing.
