CAROLINE'S VIENNA CRESCENTS 
1 c. softened butter (unsalted)
1 c. sugar
2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 c. (5 oz.) finely ground hazelnuts (filberts) or almonds
Confectioners' sugar

Beat butter and sugar until creamy. Add flour, salt, nuts and vanilla. Mix until well blended. Shape into crescents using a slightly rounded teaspoon of dough for each. Place on a cookie sheet and bake for 18-20 minutes at 300 degrees. Cool crescents and roll in confectioners' sugar. 6 dozen cookies.
