MOM'S DORCAS CAKE 
1 box raisins
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening (1 stick butter)
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
4 c. flour

Boil raisins 15 minutes in 3 cups water, then add 1 cup cold water, shortening and sugar. Mix dry ingredients together and add to raisin mixture. Do not overmix.

Bake in greased and floured 9 x 13-inch cake pan at 350°F for 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean. If you like raisins, you'll love this cake!!
