1/2 c. soft shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 c. applesauce
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 c. raisins
1/2 c. nuts, chopped; walnuts
Maple Frosting

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 9 x 13 cake pan. Mix all ingredients together. Beat well. Bake 55-65 minutes.

MAPLE FROSTING:

4-5 c. powdered sugar
2-3 tbsp. soft butter
Some milk
1 1/2 to 2 tsp. maple flavoring

Cream sugar, butter, and milk together until smooth. Add maple flavorings. Add more sugar or milk until right consistency. Spread over cooled cake.
