FRESH APPLE BREAD | |
1 c. sugar 1/2 c. shortening 2 eggs, beaten 1 c. ground or grated apples 2 c. flour, sifted 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking soda 1 c. broken pecan pieces 1 1/2 tbsp. buttermilk 1/2 tsp. vanilla 3 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. cinnamon Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs and apples. Sift dry ingredients together. Mix with sugar mixture. Add pecans. Stir in buttermilk and vanilla. Pour into greased 10 x 6 x 3 inch loaf pan. Mix sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over top. Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees. Makes 1 loaf. |
