BUTTER OR THREE HOUR ROLLS 
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
2 tbsp. dry yeast
1 tbsp. sugar or sugar substitute
1/4 c. milk, scalded & cooled
1 tsp. vanilla
3 egg yolks
1/2 c. butter

Dissolve sugar in warm milk. Add vanilla, beaten egg yolks. Add yeast to flour, cut butter in flour. Combine all mixtures. Form into a ball. (Dough may be sticky.) place dough in a cheese cloth and put in a bowl of cold water. Let stand 3/4 to 1 hour.

When dough rises to the top of water, remove from cloth. Make into small balls and roll to 4 inch rope. Dust with mixture of 1/2 cup sugar and 1/4 cup nuts. Twist, place in pan (not greased), let rise 20 minutes. Bake in hot oven (400 degrees) for 20 minutes until golden brown. Very different kind of dessert - good for diabetics.
