SUGAR COOKIES - CHRISTMAS CUT

3 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla in large bowl. Mix flour, salt and baking powder in separate bowl. Add flour mixture to shortening mixture about a cup at a time. This recipe does not have to be refrigerated.

Roll out on a floured surface; should be between 1/8 or 1/4-inch thick. Place cookie cutters in flour, then cut out of dough.

Bake in 350°F oven for 8 to 10 minutes (until just turning brown around the edges).

This recipe makes from 3 to 6 dozen cookies, depending on size of cutters.
