MERINGUE DROPS | |
5 egg whites 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar 1 c. granulated sugar red and green decorating sugar Heat oven to 250°F. Beat egg whites in medium size bowl until frothy. Add salt and cream of tartar. Beat until soft peaks form. Continue beating, gradually adding granulated sugar until meringue is stiff and glossy. Butter and flour baking sheet. Spoon meringue into pastry bag fitted with large star tip. Pipe out stars 1-inch apart onto prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle with decorating sugar. Bake in 250°F oven for 50 to 60 minutes or until firm but not browned. Transfer to wire rack to cool. |
