SAVORY CORN BAKE: SOUTHERN SPOON
BREAD
 
1 c. milk
2 eggs, separated
3/4 c. Pillsbury best self-rising flour
2 tbsp. cornmeal
1 tsp. baking powder
Dash pepper
1/2 c. chopped green bell pepper
1 (15 oz.) can Green Giant Golden cream style corn
1 (8 oz.) pkg. bacon (10 slices), crisply cooked, crumbled

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 2-quart casserole. In large bowl, combine milk and egg yolks; blend well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Add flour, cornmeal, baking powder and pepper; beat until smooth. Stir in green pepper, corn and bacon.

In small bowl, beat egg whites until stiff but not dry; fold into corn mixture. Pour into greased casserole. Bake at 350 degrees for 55 to 70 minutes or until center is firm. 8 servings.

High altitude - above 3500 feet: no change. Great as an accompaniment to greens, ham or chicken.
