FIVE DAY SWEET PICKLES 
1st Day - Wash, cut cucumbers and pour boiling water over them.

2nd Day - Drain. Pour boiling salt water over them. (Handful salt to gallon pickles.)

3rd Day - Drain. Pour alum (1 teaspoon or size of walnut) and boiling water over them.

4th Day - Drain. Pour clean boiling water over them.

5th Day - Drain pickles, pack in clean jars.

Make syrup of: 1 c. vinegar (white) 2 c. water Allspices

Boil up and let cool, then fill jars with cold syrup and seal.
