SWEDISH RYE BREAD | |
2 pkg. yeast 1 tsp. sugar 1 c. warm water 1 1/2 c. white flour--mix this into a paste and let stand Scald 2 c. milk and 1 c. water 5 tbsp. butter 1/2 c. (each) molasses, brown sugar 1 tbsp. salt 3 tbsp. dark Karo syrup 3 c. rye flour 1 c. white flour 1 tsp. anise 1 1/2 tsp. caraway Mix and add to yeast mixture; add an additional 2 cups white flour to mixture; put 3 1/2 cups flour on board and dump mixture on top; fold and knead using all the flour--place in 3 greased bread pans; let rise until doubled in size. Bake 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes. |
