2 c. self-rising cornmeal
1 tsp. salt
1 c. milk or 7-Up
1 egg
1 lg. onion, chopped fine

Sift dry ingredients together. Add to milk and egg. Mix well. Stir in onion. Shape 1 teaspoon at a time into balls. Drop in pan of hot shortening or oil. Cook until brown. Drain on paper towels.
