RED VELVET CAKE AND CREAM CHEESE
FROSTING
 
Cake Mix:

1 box cake mix (butter recipe), yellow
1 tsp. cocoa
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 oz. food coloring, red
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. almond extract
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter, melted
3 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vinegar

Sift together cake mix and cocoa. Add buttermilk, food coloring, vanilla, almond extract, melted butter and beaten eggs; mixing well. Stir in baking soda and vinegar. Pour into a greased and floured 9x13-inch pan.

Bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes or until done.

Cream Cheese Frosting:

8 oz. cream cheese, softened
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter
16 oz. (1 box) powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Blend together cream cheese and butter. Add powdered sugar, a little at a time. Add vanilla and blend well. Put frosting on cake.
