RED VELVET CAKE WITH FROSTING 
1/2 c. Crisco
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 c. flour
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
2 oz. red food color
1 tbsp. cocoa
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 tsp. baking soda

FROSTING:

1 c. milk
1/4 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. Crisco
1 stick butter (oleo)
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

CAKE: Mix Crisco with sugar; cream. Add eggs; cream together. Alternate flour and buttermilk. Add salt, red food color, cocoa and vanilla; beat well. Mix soda and vinegar in small bowl, fold into batter. Bake in 2 layers in greased and floured pans at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.

FROSTING: Combine milk, flour, and salt. Cook over low flame until thick. Cream Crisco, butter and sugar. Add vanilla. Add mixture together. Beat until smooth.
