GLAZED PEACH CAKE | |
1 lb. (13 oz.) can ideal sliced yellow cling peaches 1/4 c. Leola butter 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed Ideal maraschino cherries 1 c. sifted ideal gold seal flour 1 1/2 tsp. double acting baking powder 1/2 tsp. ideal salt 3/4 c. sugar 4 tbsp. ideal shortening 1/2 c. milk 1 ideal egg 1/2 tsp. ideal vanilla Drain peach slices and place on a paper towel. Melt butter in a deep 8 inch round cake pan. Sprinkle with brown sguar. Arrange peach slices and cherries on top of sugar. Place shortening in bowl, stir to just soften. Sift in dry ingredients. Add the milk and vanilla, mix then beat 2 minutes. Add egg and beat 1 minute. Pour over peaches. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes. Allow to stand a few minutes in pan then turn out onto plate. Best served warm. |
