1 c. vegetable oil
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/4 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. grated orange peel
1/2 tsp. salt
4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
6 tbsp. milk (may need more for desired moistness of dough)

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and beat, then mix in vanilla and orange peel. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk and mix until a smooth dough is formed. On floured board roll 1/8 inch thick and cut with decorative Christmas cookie cutters. Bake on ungreased cookie sheets about 12 minutes at 375 degrees.
