WALNUT CARAMELS | |
1 can (1 1/2 c.) condensed milk 2 c. brown sugar 1/2 c. butter 1/2 tsp. vanilla 3/4 c. light corn syrup 1/2 c. finely chopped nuts Combine milk, brown sugar, corn syrup and butter. Cook stirring constantly, to very firm ball stage (246 degrees); add vanilla and walnuts. Pour immediately into a buttered shallow pan or platter. Chill 4 to 6 hours. Turn onto a cold surface. Cut and wrap at once. It takes about 20 minutes to reach to firm ball stage. |
