SNICKER DOODLES 
1 c. soft shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream together shortening, sugar and eggs. Stir in remaining ingredients. Mix together thoroughly. Chill dough. Roll in balls size of walnuts, then roll in mixture of 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 tablespoons cinnamon. Place 2" apart on ungreased tray. Bake until light brown but still soft. They puff up at first and then flatten out. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
