VELVET CRUMB SPICE CAKE 
1 1/2 c. Bisquick
3/4 c. brown sugar, packed
3 tbsp. soft shortening
1 egg
3/4 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. each cloves, allspice & nutmeg

Heat oven to 350 degrees, moderate. Grease and flour a square pan, 8"x8"x2" or a round layer pan, 9" x 1 1/2". Mix Bisquick, sugar and spices. Add shortening, egg, 1/4 cup milk. Beat vigorously one minute. Stir in remaining milk, and vanilla. Beat 1/2 minute. Pour into pan. Bake about 30 minutes.
