GRANDMA MIRKA'S SWEDISH ORANGE CAKE | |
1/2 c. shortening 2 whole eggs, well beaten Grated rind of 1 orange 2 c. flour 1 c. sugar 1 c. raisins (dark, washed and ground) 1 tsp. baking soda 1 c. sour milk Cream shortening, add sugar and well beaten eggs. Add raisins and orange rind. Mix flour with baking soda and add to first mixture. Add sour milk and mix well together. Put in tube pans. Bake in 325 degree oven for about 30 minutes. Test with toothpick, if it comes out dry cake is baked. Turn out on rack. While still warm mix juice of one orange, add 1/4 cup sugar so sugar is dissolved and pour over cake to glaze. Note: Can add nuts or candied fruit for fruitcake. |
