STUFFED GRAPE LEAVES (DOLMOTHES
FILA)
 
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 c. long grain rice
1/2 c. melted butter
1 can stewed tomatoes (juice and pulp)
2 med. onions, finely chopped
2 tbsp. chopped mint leaves
Salt and pepper
1 (15 oz.) jar grape leaves (or steamed cabbage leaves)
Lemon sauce or Hollandaise sauce

Mix first seven ingredients together. Carefully unwrap grape leaves and separate. Placing heaping tablespoon of mixture in the middle of leaf. Wrap carefully. Place folded side down in skillet or Dutch oven. Can be layed in pot, if necessary.

Add 1 1/2 cups hot water. Cover and cook 1 hour on simmer to medium low. Drain and serve with lemon sauce or Hollandaise. Makes about 25 grape roll ups. don't let Julian know that you are cooking these he will find a reason to make a visit!
