DATE AND NUT FINGERS 
1/4 tsp. salt
3 egg whites
1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
3/4 c. water
2 c. broken pecan meats
1 c. chopped dates
1 tsp. vanilla

Three egg whites beaten stiff, start to beat when syrup (sugar and water) reaches soft boil. Cook water and sugar to 265 degrees (hard almost brittle ball), pour in thin stream over egg whites, when mixture holds shape fold in extract, dates and nuts. Bake about 30 minutes in 300 degree oven. Scant teaspoon on brown paper.
