About 4 lbs. cucumbers, sliced 3 tbsp. alum 1/2 box pickling spice Apple cider vinegar (about 2 qts.) Sugar (about 5 lbs.) 1 gal. jug (glass) 1 c. salt (Should have enough to pack a gallon jug solid). Slice cucumbers into gallon jug until packed tight. Add 1 cup uniodized salt and fill with water - shake well and let stand out on counter (out of sunlight) for 10 days - shaking every day - drain after 10 days and rinse well, drain by holding hand over top of jug. Do this about 3 times. |
