WHITE NUTMEG CAKE | |
1/2 c. white shortening 1 1/2 c. sugar 3 eggs one at a time 2 c. plus 2 tbsp. flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. baking soda (combine with milk) 2 tsp. nutmeg 1 c. buttermilk or sour milk 1/2 tsp. vanilla Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes (sheet cake). Cool, frost and leave under hot broiler for 3-5 minutes. COCONUT FROSTING (For White Nutmeg Cake) : 6 tbsp. butter (melted) 1 1/2 c. brown sugar 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/4 c. cream 1/2 c. coconut 1/2 c. nuts |
