GERMAN SAUERKRAUT 
1 jar sauerkraut, drain & rinse
6 slices bacon, cut up
1 onion, chopped
8 oz. water
1 tsp. caraway seeds
12 pepper corns
1 lg. potato, grated

In skillet brown onion and bacon. Add sauerkraut water, caraway seeds, potato and pepper corns. Simmer. If starts to dry out add water. Simmer for at least 1 hour. This is easier in a crock pot and simmer on low for several hours.

I started using this recipe around 2010. My husband is polish and he was always trying to make sauerkraut, never having very much success. So I decided to try... I found this recipe and it is so delicious! It is 5 stars. The only thing I do different is add a tablespoon of soy sauce and use imported mushrooms. I also do not do peppercorn, just add 1/4 tsp. of pepper. I make this on the stove we cook the fresh Polish sausage and add it to the sauerkraut and bake 20 mins. in the oven. It is very delicious. Thank you for sharing, we love this recipe!
