1/4 c. butter 1 onion, chopped 1 tbsp. chopped parsley 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce 1 lb. macaroni 2 lb. ground beef 1 clove garlic, minced 1 tsp. cinnamon Salt and pepper 1/2 c. white wine, can be omitted 3 eggs Parmesan cheese 4 c. white sauce made from 1/2 c. flour, 1 tsp. salt and 4 c. milk Brown ground beef in skillet with onion, garlic, and parsley. Add cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, pepper, wine, and tomato sauce. Simmer 30 minutes. Cook macaroni, drain and add 1/4 cup butter, eggs, and generous sprinkling of Parmesan cheese. Spread remaining macaroni over the top. Cover with white sauce. Dot with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon, if desired. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees. I sometimes make it with lasagna noodles, instead of with macaroni. |
