ALL BRAN DATE MUFFINS 
2 c. all bran cereal
3 shredded wheat biscuits, crushed
1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. shortening or butter
3 c. white sugar
4 eggs, slightly beaten
1 c. dates, cut fine
5 c. flour
4 1/2 tsp. baking soda, level
2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
4 c. buttermilk

Mix cereal, add boiling water; cream shortening and sugar; add eggs to cereal mixture; add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk. Add dates. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

This makes a large batch. Batter may be stored in refrigerator up to a month in a covered container.
