ORANGE SLICE FRUIT CAKE 
2 sticks butter
4 eggs
1 3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda in 1/2 c. buttermilk
3 1/2 c. cake flour
1/2 lb. orange slice candy, cut in pieces
1 (8 oz.) box chopped dates
2 c. nuts
1 lg. can flaked coconut

Mix first 4 ingredients together. Coat candy and dates with a little flour and set aside. Add cake flour to mixture and mix well. Add candy, dates, nuts, coconut and mix well. Line tube pan with wax paper. Bake 2 1/2 hours at 250 degrees. When cool remove from pan. Punch holes in cake - mix 2 cups powdered sugar with 1 cup orange juice and pour over and into cake. Better if made at least 2 weeks before eating. Keep in refrigerator. If dry add more juice and sugar mix.
