LEMON BUTTERMILK CAKE | |
1 1/2 c. Crisco 2 1/2 c. sugar 4 eggs 3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1 c. buttermilk 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 tbsp. lemon flavoring Cream Crisco and sugar; add eggs, one at a time. Add flour, salt and milk. Dissolve baking soda in hot water and add to mixture, beating all the time. Add flavoring. Bake in ungreased tube pan 1 hour or until done in a 350 degree oven. Let cool 10 minutes and then glaze with the following. GLAZE: 1/2 c. sugar Juice of 1 lemon 1 tbsp. water Boil together for 1 minute. |
