1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. cornstarch
1 c. milk
1 stick butter
1/2 c. Crisco
1 tsp. vanilla

Cook over medium heat sugar, cornstarch and milk until thick. Cool completely. Add soft butter, Crisco and vanilla and beat with mixer at high speed until light and fluffy.
