APRICOT SQUARES 
2/3 c. dried apricots
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/4 c. sugar
1 1/3 c. flour
1 c. brown sugar, packed
2 eggs, well beaten
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. nuts, chopped
Confectioners sugar

Rinse and drain apricots. Cover with water in a saucepan; boil 10 minutes. Drain, cook and chop. Mix together butter, sugar and 1 cup flour. Pack into a greased 8 x 2 inch square pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Meanwhile gradually beat brown sugar into eggs. Sift in together remaining flour, baking powder, and salt, mix well. Add vanilla, nuts and apricots. Spread over baked layer. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until done. Cool in pan then cut in squares. Sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
