COLONIAL CORNBREAD 
1 c. cornmeal
1 c. flour
1/3 c. sugar
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/4 c. butter, melted
1 1/4 c. milk

Sift cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into mixing bowl. Add egg, milk and melted butter, stirring JUST until all ingredients moistened.

Grease and lightly flour an 8 x 8 x 2 inch baking pan. Fill pan and bake at 425 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.
