COLONIAL CRUMB CAKE 
3/4 c. shortening
2 c. brown sugar
3 c. flour
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 c. sour milk
2 tsp. cinnamon

Cut shortening into flour and sugars. Reserve 1 cup of this mixture for topping. Stir eggs, sour milk, soda and cinnamon into remaining dry ingredients until blended. Pour batter into two 8 inch pans; greased and floured or lined with wax paper.

Additional butter or shortening may be added to reserved crumbs along with 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and-or allspice. Top batter with crumbs. Bake in 325 degree oven for 45-50 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
