3 c. cubed French bread (sour) 3 c. cubed cooked ham 1/2 lb. Cheddar cheese, cut in 1 inch cubes 3 tbsp. flour 1 tbsp. dry mustard 3 tbsp. melted butter 4 eggs 3 c. milk Few drops Tabasco Mix bread, ham and cheese cubes in large bowl, layer 1/3 into buttered, straight-sided 8 cup baking dish. Mix flour and mustard in a cup; sprinkle 1 tablespoon over layer; drizzle with 1 tablespoon butter. Repeat with remaining bread, ham mixture and flour and butter for two more layers. Beat eggs with milk and Tabasco until foamy in medium bowl; pour over layers in baking dish; cover. Chill at least 4 hours or overnight. Bake uncovered in 350 degree oven 1 hour or until puffed and golden. Serve at once. This is an elegant main course and one that men seem to appreciate and yet since its made early in the day its extremely easy on the cook. |
