1 tsp. salt 1/4 c. sugar 1/4 c. oil 1 1/4 c. hot water 1 pkg. yeast 2 eggs 4 1/2 to 5 c. flour Combine salt, sugar, oil and hot water. Stir until dissolved. Cool to warm (105 to 115 degrees). Add to warm water, 1 package of yeast and 2 eggs. Mix, add 4 1/2 to 5 cups flour, mix. Knead about 5 minutes. Dough will be soft, not sticky. Let rise in greased bowl, punch down and braid. To braid make 4 strands, oil hands and cookie sheet. Divide dough in 4 parts, roll each part into a long rope with your hands. Place on cookie sheet - pinch ends together and braid. Always starting with the strand on the right. You will probably have to rebraid the first end. Pinch off straggling ends and make a little braid to lay on top. Let rise. Brush with one egg yolk beaten with one tablespoon of water. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. |
