1/2 c. warm water 1 pkg. yeast 5 - 5 1/2 c. flour 3 eggs 1/2 c. water 1/3 c. oil 3/4 c. sugar Pinch salt 1 beaten egg Poppy or sesame seeds Dissolve yeast in warm water, mix with 1 - 1 1/2 cups flour and set aside. Mix together eggs, water, oil, sugar and salt. Combine yeast and egg mixtures with 3 1/2 - 4 cups flour. Knead on floured surface 15-20 minutes until dough is not too sticky. Place dough in greased bowl, cover with towel and let rise 2 hours or until doubled. (I put it in unheated oven with pan of hot water.) Punch down and divide dough, bread and let rise 1/2 hour. Brush with egg and sprinkle seeds on. Bake 350 degrees for 30 minutes. 2 medium loaves. |
