HOLIDAY ORANGE SLICE CAKE 
3 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 lb. orange slice candy, cut up
1 (8 oz.) pkg. dates, finely chopped
2 c. chopped walnuts
1 (3 1/4 oz.) can flaked coconut
1/2 c. flour
1 c. (1/2 lb.) butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda

Sift together flour and salt; set aside. Mix orange candy, dates, walnuts, and coconut with 1/2 cup flour; mix well. Cream butter. Gradually add sugar. Beat well, add eggs, beating well after each addition.

Combine buttermilk and soda. Add alternately with flour mixture, blend well, after each addition. Add candy mixture, mixing well. Turn into a 10-inch tube pan, which has been greased and floured. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour and 45 minutes (longer, if necessary until tester comes out clean). Remove from oven.

Combine 1 cup orange juice and 2 cups sifted confectioners' sugar; mix well. Prick cake with large fork. Pour above over hot cake, cool. Then stand in refrigerator overnight before removing from pan.
