WHITE OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 1/4 c. sugar
2/3 c. shortening
2 1/2 c. oatmeal
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream sugar and shortening. Blend in oatmeal, milk and vanilla. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet and flatten with a sugar-dipped glass. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
