HOMEMADE SCALLOPED POTATOES 
3 tbsp. butter
3 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 1/2 c. milk
6 c. thinly sliced potatoes
1 sm. onion, finely chopped (about 1/4 c.)
1 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. seasoned salt

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 2 quart casserole. Heat 3 tablespoons butter in 1 1/2 quart saucepan over low heat until melted. Stir in flour, salt, and pepper. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until smooth and bubbly; remove from heat. Stir in milk. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute.

Layer 1/3 of potatoes, 1/2 of onion, and 1/3 of the white sauce in casserole; repeat. Top with remaining potatoes and white sauce. Dot with 1 tablespoon butter and sprinkle on seasoned salt. Cover and bake 30 minutes. Uncover and bake 60 to 70 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Let stand 5 to 10 minutes before serving. 6 servings.
