MELT-IN-THE-MOUTH COOKIES 
1 c. butter
2 c. brown sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. nuts, chopped fine

Cream butter and sugar; beat in vanilla and eggs; beat until very light. Sift dry ingredients, add, then add the nuts. Drop onto foil on cookie sheets (cookies peel off easily when cool); bake at 350 degrees. Put foil, with cookies still on it, on racks to cool a while. This recipe needs butter; butter and vegetable shortening do not produce the same results. If desired, 1/2 cup chocolate chips may be added.
